what was and could of been…
So its that time on a Friday night that that i am half a case of beer down and finishing my 12th cigarette and feel as though i haven’t said enough about how lucky i have been in the past years. Last night made me realise that you dont know what you have till its almost gone or until it is gone.
Last night i almost lost my dog, the one dude that i enjoy coming home too, but it seems just as i was about to say goodbye to the little guy he is now sitting at my feet still breathing strong. Waiting on test results to hear if there is a worse end to this story.
It makes me think, where to in life from here? i mean, i have had the best past few years traveling around with a band, who are also my best mates and my life, this reminds me of how much we and me as a person have accomplished,
In one single year i saw the biggest year an Australian rock band can have. from debuting in the top 20 artists in this planet on our county’s charts to playing in front of thousands of people on sold out national tours, to watching a group of friends release songs that raged all over the Australian air charts and t.v. To being apart of the big stages at festivals such as Homebake Festival, the National Big Day Out tour, to Pyramid Rock being the best night of my life. After many years, many 5 star hotels, many flights, many endless nights partying with new friends i am now happy to realise i lived the dream.
As teens me and Aaron always would get together and swill, talking about what could be, “imagine if we were to play at Rod Lava Arena, imagine playing sold out tours with this band or that band, and we did it, we did it all.
From going to awards nights such as the Aria number one awards night, to the Air awards and watching my boys take home a prize, i felt like a dad and was the proudest i have ever been.
I just hope that where ever i go to from here will be just as exciting, if not, i know i gave it a shot, and i succeeded.
RIP The Getaway Plan 2004 – 2009 the best time of my life.
Sydney weekend 23-4…
I headed up to Sydney on Thursday with a friends band “The Rose Line” it was honestly good to get back into a van and drive 12 hours to get there, to many times i have learnt to fly all over on tour, but when the real meaning and fun of tour is in a 12 seater van with your mates and beers.
I had the chance to let my shoes off this weekend, as im normally the one that is behind the wheel, but this weekend was for strictly party reasons only.
Arriving thursday night for a show at hot dam, it turned out to be a good party, but with an early start the next day it was time to continue drinking and get ready for a double show day, the first show was average in the back streets of Sydney’s industrial area but was a good time to make my head walk break through. If i didnt have the van to drink Makers Mark in, i would of walked home. Once packed up it was off to show number 2 at a metal venue, but not the metal the band i was with played, it was creepy and interesting, but again we headed out afterwards and got very wasted under a snow machine until i was kicked out for doing naughty lines in the toilets.
Saturday was a long day, slept in a a little then woke up and hot Newtown for some famous food and beers at the pub, once ready it was of to another show in Blacktown, this show was sick, it bought together 3 tours of bands for the one show, with about 600 kids in a room it was looking like the best show of the Sydney run, until of course the police rocked up with a 30 man strong riot squad and shut the show down, you could only imagine the reaction of 600 kids being told that they are not getting a full show or a refund.
We headed back to the hotel as i headed back out on the town for another night.
The next day arrived, it was time to pack up and head home. But not beofre a show in Wollongong on the way through, i started drinking early club van style as it was my birthday, 22 beers later we were back in melbourne.
Good weekend, besides leaving my car key in Sydney.

So it is safe to say that is has been a crazy past few months, one of the times in your life when it seems like everything is going so well, a little too well that something is not quite right and needs to happen, thats exactly what did.
One minute life was perfect, traveling around living the dream , the life that one in a million will get to experience, and then next minute, it all crashes.
Its been hard trying to accept that its all over for now, and that its time to move on, and its been hard to see how many lives have been effected by the situation, and to accept what could of been, and then all the questions come into play, why? what if? but then you learn its best to move on and start again.
I have had the best past 5 years of my life, i have had the chance to do so much, see so much, and live a dream life. I am very thankful for what i have had and who i have met along the way.
But this isn’t the end, just the beginning of another chapter that follows the end to another.
Start!
So i have had this profile for a while now, I thought it was about time to put it to use.
